Recommended Reading

Well of course I'm going to start by recommending my blog posts BUT that's just my take on menopause, my personal experience and the things that I'm interested in exploring.

You might want guidance on nutrition, find a good book to turn to on your journey (whether for education or escape), a documentary, a website, a great addition to your social follows.

Here's where you'll find all my recommendations - they'll be constantly growing and, as always, I welcome your suggestions - wherever you are in the world!

You can jump to my blog via the button below or keep reading for my recommendations.

Books

These are the books I have turned to during menopause, helping me to better understand the journey I'm on and to help me learn.

Menopausing

Those of you in the UK have no doubt heard of Davina McCall, whether that be from Big Brother, The Masked Singer or maybe as a result of her absolute commitment to making conversations about menopause mainstream and helping women through their journey. US based? Think Halle Berry for Britain!

I bought the book on 'World of Books' but available on loads of book store websites and Amazon.

The Natural Supplement & Nutrition Guide

I bought this book direct from 'Wild Nutrition', a company I buy my magnesium and collagen supplements from. It is written by the founder and I just love it. This isn't just menopause and perimenopause focused, its every element of life. To be honest, I wish I'd invested in a book like this YEARS ago!

It is available on Amazon as well as direct from Wild Nutrition - and they do ship internationally.

Documentaries

There have been a plethora of documentaries on menopause over the last few years and there are no doubt plenty I've missed and plenty more to come. I have included a selection below, only including those that are easily accessible (regional variations apply) - and have also included the date as some are a few years old (they aren't in date order or any particular order for that matter!)

2021

Davina McCall: Sex, Myths & The Menopause

This was first shown back in 2021 and is still available to stream on Channel 4 (UK). It is an important one, tackling the taboo, exploring brain fog, depression and is a bit of an HRT myth buster as well.

2022

Davina McCall: Sex, Mind & the Menopause

The 2022 documentary is also available on Channel 4 (UK), this time taking a look at the impact menopause has on mental health and cognitive function.

2022

Everywoman - The Real Menopause documentary

Now this one is about giving real, every day people a voice, featuring the accounts of women and men in Manchester, UK. It is available to view on YouTube here - so hopefully accessible outside the UK!

2026

Balance: A Perimenopause Journey

This is a four-part series that is available on Amazon. It may be free to watch in some countries, but here in the UK it cost me £8.99 to buy the full season. The series follows two female Jain monks who are experiencing perimenopause. I'm only on episode one so far but it is brilliant.
